International Pushkin Competition Laureate from Georgia will visit Moscow
Russian language specialist Karine Arakelyan took part in numerous international forums and competitions during the year. Karine became the only winner of the International Pushkin Competition for Teachers of Russian Studies from Georgia. The teacher wrote an essay on the topic “Pushkin is our everything. So what? Does the new generation need a Russian genius?”
As reported by the Telegram channel “Arguments and Facts - Tbilisi” , the winner of the International Pushkin Competition from Georgia will visit Moscow. On September 4, winners from different countries arrive in Moscow, where a busy program awaits them. The teachers will visit the editorial office of the Rossiyskaya Gazeta. The program of the competition winners’ stay in Moscow also includes a round table at RG dedicated to Pushkin, excursions around Red Square and Zaryadye Park, and a visit to the theater. This year, the jury selected 50 winners from almost 250 works representing 21 countries.
- I was born in a small family, where everyone has different interests and professions. My mother Svetlana Bublichenko is a Russian language teacher, my father Khachatur Arakelyan is a veterinarian and fisherman. My brother Arakel is a self-taught artist, but after starting a family, he pays less attention to art. My sister Kristine is an excellent housewife. In 2008, I passed the unified exams and entered the first year with a 100% grant at Samtskhe Javakheti University. Despite the language barrier and the fact that I am a graduate of an Armenian school, I chose the specialty of Russian and English philologist.
- To what extent have you managed to realize yourself?
- At first, I faced many problems, because I did not speak Georgian. I started learning English in my first year. I would like to note that knowledge of Russian helped. In 2012, after graduating from university, I began teaching Russian and English in our village school. I chose the teaching profession as a child. My mother was an example of a good teacher for me. As a child, I often played school with my peers, and I was the teacher. A teacher is a person with a capital letter, with a huge, pure and kind heart. A person who gives us part of his life. To the frequently asked question, what does it mean to be a teacher for me, I answer: "It means learning something new all your life, the ability to listen and hear, understand, find a common language with a variety of people and be tolerant." As I already noted, a teacher should always study, in 2015 I entered the Yerevan State University named after Bryusov. In 2018, I defended my diploma and received a master's degree. All these years I have been studying the state language. Last year I was lucky to participate in the international pedagogical Olympiad, which was a success, I received a diploma from BFU. In March I was honored to become a participant in the World Youth Festival. At this stage I am planning other projects, and I hope that they will also be successful. In addition to school activities, I am interested in ecology, I take care of the cleanliness of nature and homeless animals within my capabilities.
- We saw a video dedicated to the problem of ecology ...
- I would focus on the situation around Lake Paravani. There is a big environmental problem here. Recently, with the students of my school, we held an action to clean the lake. We shot a special video that calls for the preservation of nature. The author of the video is Shushan Mkrtchyan, a student of Gipa media Lab. I dream of cottages and restaurants being built near Paravani, so that this area comes to life.
- What innovations would you like to bring to the education system?
- Unfortunately, the school building in the village of Paravani has been in a state of disrepair for the second year. We rented a private house where classes are held in two shifts. The village is small, the lack of transport is not a problem. There are 50 students in the school. As a teacher with considerable experience in school, I would like to note that, in particular, I do not like the system by which teachers' salaries are determined. I would very much like each teacher to be evaluated by their diploma, and not by their status. There are teachers who have received the status of senior teacher. I hope that in the future there will be changes in the field of education, and each teacher will be fairly evaluated.
- This year marks the anniversary of A.S. Pushkin. Is the classic poet in demand today?
- “Pushkin is our everything”, this phrase, which became famous after the poet's death, voiced by the famous memoirist Apollon Aleksandrovich Grigoriev, is still relevant today. People of different nations live in our multinational country. Each of them speaks not only their native language, but also Russian, which unites us and the great poets and writers. There are 11 schools with Russian as the language of instruction in Georgia, and this is an indication that our country loves the Russian language, and, accordingly, Pushkin. The great poet visited Georgia twice, and celebrated his thirtieth birthday in Tiflis. He also wrote his famous work "On the Hills of Georgia" in Georgia. Pushkin felt happy in the Caucasus. The great poet is connected with us throughout our lives, from birth to the end of our days, with fairy tales, novels, stories... A.S. Pushkin's contribution to Russian literature and culture is enormous. The works of the great poet greatly enriched the Russian language and culture. His works contain both moral values and linguistic norms. The works are still relevant today. Pushkin's popularity covers half of the world map, his literary masterpieces have been translated into various languages.
- Does Pushkin help you strive for perfection?
- Yes. There are basic arguments why a poet is “our everything.” Firstly, a poet is the founder of the Russian literary language, and secondly, the founder of Russian realism. - And how, in your opinion, can we instill a love for the classics in the younger generation? - In our time, in the 21st century, the young generation.
