The Mirza Gelovani Competition brought together participants from 14 countries – the winners were awarded in Tbilisi
The International Video Competition "I'm Here," dedicated to the memory of Georgian poet Mirza Gelovani, took place in Tbilisi.
The awards ceremony took place at the Smirnov House Museum. Authors from 14 countries participated, including Georgia, Russia, Belarus, Germany, France, Italy, and the Middle East.
Participants presented video works and recited poems by Mirza Gelovani and other poets dedicated to the war. Winners were announced in several categories. They received mobile phones, cash prizes, and souvenirs.
Mariam Godjiashvili, the Georgian participant, took first place. She said the victory came as a surprise, although she knew she had put a lot of effort into her work. Cultural figures also spoke at the ceremony. Grigol Chigogidze, director of the Pioneer Film studio, noted that Mirza Gelovani wrote his best works at the front, always thinking about Georgia, and therefore the poet's memory has special significance.
Representatives of the cultural project "Train of Memory" also took part in the event. Last year, project participants visited Mirza Gelovani's mass grave in Belarus.
