Awarding of the winners of the Pushkin Competition
The award ceremony for the winners of the XXIV International Pushkin Competition was held in Moscow. The event was attended by the chairperson of the competition organizing committee, deputy editor-in-chief of Rossiyskaya Gazeta Yadviga Yuferova, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of Moscow Sergey Cheremin, director of the Moscow House of Compatriots Dmitry Kozhaev, acting rector of the Pushkin Institute Nikita Gusev. The winner of the competition from Georgia Karine Arakelyan shared her impressions: I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers of the competition. The organization was at the highest level. The program was also very interesting, rich and informative. We visited the editorial office of Rossiyskaya Gazeta, where a round table was held. The winners were presented with gifts and a cash prize of 20,000 rubles. A meeting with Russian writers Pavel Basinsky and Mikhail Vizel also took place. We had an interesting tour of Zaryadye Park and Red Square... I really liked the Pushkin Museum. I had the feeling that Pushkin was next to me. I am very impressed. Karine ARAKELYAN, a teacher from the highland village of Paravani, became the only winner of the XXIV International Pushkin Competition from Georgia. Karine wrote an essay "Pushkin is our everything. So what? Does the new generation need a Russian genius?" This year, the jury selected 50 winners from almost 250 works representing 21 countries.
