Our fraternal Armenian people keep numerous applaudable historical facts, but today’s event is dedicated to the paramount date of the history of Armenia - obtaining independence. Gaining independence has yet once again confirmed the spirit of perseverance and resilience of the Armenian people who endured the turbulence of history. In addition, we extend our greatest respect recalling the people who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of their country”, - the Speaker, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili stated in his speech at the reception in the Embassy of Armenia.

According to him, the relations between Georgia and Armenia are deeply rooted in history, based on centuries-old cultural links, traditions, reciprocal respect and trust.

Our nations, confronting innumerable challenges, succeeded in establishing the friendship, that goes beyond time and borders and implies the mutual support.
Fairly a couple of months ago, the years-old productive cooperation between Georgia and Armenia was upgraded to the strategic partnership level, which stands as a logical continuation of the relations and friendship between our countries and nations. The further relationship between our countries is a must-task along with the historical friendship and brotherhood as devised by our ancestors since this is the policy that endured diverse obstacles and constitutes the preface for the spiritual and material repletion of our nations. I am delighted that our legislative bodies maintain strong ties. We serve frequent exchange visits at various levels. The agenda of the representatives of the two countries is always busy with numerous aspects of cooperation for mutual benefit. We are fully committed to extending the enhancement of our bilateral relations. At that, it is noteworthy that the utter realization of the potential of these relations requires peace in the South Caucasus region, for ensuring and facilitating of which, Georgia was and always will be aspired and committed”, - the Speaker stated, adding that the facilitation of stability and development in the South Caucasus region stands as the interest of all three countries of the region.
