The first meeting of the working group on enhancing cooperation in the fields of education and science between Turkmenistan and Georgia was held.

The meeting was held under the co-chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Mr. Azat Atayev and the Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Mr. Zviad Gabisonia.

The parties discussed prospects for further deepening the existing partnership between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects, the organization of youth camps, as well as strengthening cooperation and academic ties between universities  

At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants identified the main areas for discussion at future meetings and agreed on the priorities for future cooperation 

The working group format enables the parties to exchange experience and best practice, jointly identify new areas of cooperation, and discuss opportunities that will contribute to the further development of relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia in the fields of education and science.  

During his official visit to Turkmenistan, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia Mr. Givi Mikanadze, accompanied by a delegation, laid a wreath at the monument to Shota Rustaveli.

The monument to the Georgian poet is located in a cultural and park complex among memorials dedicated to outstanding figures of different eras and nationalities.

The monument to Shota Rustaveli was erected in Ashgabat in 2024 by decision of the Government of Turkmenistan with the Georgian side
