On September 1, 2026, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the new building complexes of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Ashgabat and the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute in Turkmenabat were officially opened and commissioned.

A Georgian delegation, led by Givi Mikanadze, Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, participated in the opening ceremony of the new complex of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Designed for 5,000 students, it includes a 13-story main building, eight faculties and 28 departments, a library, and a conference hall. In addition, the campus includes a 2,600-bed dormitory, as well as a residential building consisting of two buildings with 40 apartments each for faculty members.

These significant events, which coincided with the widely celebrated Day of Knowledge and Student Youth, further demonstrate the success of the extensive work to develop the national education system in line with best practices and strengthen its material and technical infrastructure. 

Today, under the wise leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, to comprehensively modernize the country's scientific and educational spheres are being worthy of continuation.

The President of Turkmenistan addressed the gathering with a welcoming speech.

Warmly greeting the participants, the head of state heartily congratulated the ceremony participants and the people on this remarkable holiday and the opening of modern educational institutions.

As emphasized, the comprehensive development of scientific and educational spheres and their elevation to a qualitatively new level are among the priorities of state policy.

Following the ceremony, Givi Mikanadze met with the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan. At the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening partnership in education, including cooperation between Georgian universities and the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

The minister was accompanied by Zviad Gabisonia, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, and Konstantin Sabiashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan.
