Mamuka Pipia: Results of the two-year decree of the President of the Russian Federation
🇬🇪🇷🇺 By decision of Vladimir Putin, air traffic between Russia and Georgia was resumed in May 2023.
In an interview with Argumenty i Fakty - Tbilisi, speaking about the results and outcomes of lifting the ban on flights to Georgia, the International Secretary of the Solidarity for Peace Party Mamuka PIPIA notes that Russia has taken real steps towards rapprochement:
"We express our gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation and his entire team. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Presidential Administration, and the Committee on CIS Affairs were actively involved in this process.
In 2023, 870 thousand people used direct flights. Quite a large number.
The number of entries of Russian citizens in 2023 was 1,856,237, and in 2024 - 1,882,981, of which 1.2 million Russians used direct flights.
The numbers speak for themselves. You can board a plane in Tbilisi and without a visa in 2,5 hours you will already be in Moscow."
Pipia emphasizes that the flight network has also expanded:
"Direct flights are operated from large and medium-sized airports in the Russian Federation to Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi. All this brings our countries and peoples closer together."
