Ambassador D'Antuono: "The promotion of Italian artists in Georgia has been fruitful." 

“The Italian Embassy in Tbilisi collaborates constantly and fruitfully with the leading festivals and organizers of cultural events in Georgia, promoting Italian culture and artists. The Tsinandali Festival was certainly among them.” This was stated by the Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Massimiliano D’Antuono, during the press conference preceding the festival’s opening.

The diplomat emphasized that the festival’s success is due in large part to “is also significantly enhanced by the brilliant conductor Gianandrea Noseda, the festival’s artistic director since its very first edition, who beautifully represents Italy.” The star of the opening concert was none other than Noseda, music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington and the Zurich Opera, principal guest conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra, and music director of the Tsinandali Festival.

       The Maestro conducted the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra, accompanied by Georgian violinist Lisa Batiashvili, in a program dedicated to the music of Szymanowski and Rimsky-Korsakov. The concert concluded with repeated standing ovations.

    Noseda will return to the podium on September 6 to conduct works by Beethoven and Mussorgsky, performed by the Pan-Caucasian Youth Orchestra with violinist Pinchas Zukerman.
