Victory Day was solemnly celebrated in Georgia.

Commemorative events were held in Tbilisi's Kikvidze Park. Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, President Mikheil Kavelashvili, and Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze laid wreaths and flowers at the bust of Hero of the Soviet Union Meliton Kantaria in Kikvidze Park.

Congratulating veterans, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze noted that the heroes of the Great Patriotic War are an example of selflessness for all generations: "I congratulate everyone on Victory Day over fascism. I especially want to congratulate our veterans. Three hundred thousand Georgians died in the fight against fascism. Hundreds of thousands of Georgians fought on the front. And, of course, it is our duty to honor the memory of each of them."

As of May 2026, there are 46 veterans of the Great Patriotic War remaining in Georgia. Veteran Vakhtang Adamashvili, accepting congratulations, recounted his journey, including going to the front at the age of seventeen.

"I don't remember my mother. When she passed away, my father brought me a second wife. I didn't go to school. I had to work from childhood... I fought in Kerch. At 17, I went to the front." 

On May 9, Dmitry Olisov, Head of the Russian Interests Section, and Nikolai Rogashchuk, Ambassador of Belarus to Georgia, held joint commemorative events, including flower-laying ceremonies at Kikvidze Park and the Kuki Cemetery.

On Victory Day over Fascism, Georgian schoolchildren, participants in the "Memory Train," and the editor-in-chief and director of Georgiapress, Miranda Oganezova, also congratulated 100-year-old veteran Lilia Zerekidze, a resident of besieged Leningrad. They visited the veteran, presented her with gifts, and heard her story firsthand.
